Gems of Central Oslo Private Walking Tour

2 hours

Easy

This private walk is a perfect choice for a group of friends or a family, visiting Oslo for the first time.

Our guide will meet you at the Swan fountain near the Oslo City Hall, a monumental red-brick building in which the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded. There, the guide will narrate stories about the dramatic history of this edifice and what this building can tell us about the Norwegian culture and the country’s past.

From there, we will head to Karl Johans gate and the majestic Royal Palace of Oslo, built specifically for the very person the street is named after. And our guide will not miss a chance to tell about the complicated history this city has with Karl Johan and why he had never had a chance to live in this magnificent palace.

As we will walk down Karl Johans gate, the other landmarks of Oslo will attract our attention – Oslo University, National Theatre, the building of Parliament, and the 17th-century Oslo Cathedral. This street abounds with cafés, bars, jazz clubs, boutiques, and shops, and here you can feel the city’s somewhat laid-back, yet unique to some extent atmosphere.

The tour will come to a conclusion on a square next to the Central Railway Station, and you will hear from our guide about how this neighborhood has been transformed in recent decades. The guide will draw this tour to a close only after introducing Oslo Opera House, the city’s most popular building – you can enter the edifice’s hall or climb to the roof after the end of this tour.

Note: This is a private walking tour, which means that the guide is at your disposal for two hours. You can express your preferences in regards to how the tour should go and which things in that area you would like to get to know about.
